Technical Difficulties and Choosing Growth

When glitches show up, grace can grow too.

Oh, the joys of running a business.

This past week, I’ve had more than my fair share of “technical difficulties.” Let’s be honest—I am not a techy person. If there’s a learning curve, I’m usually climbing it the hard way. What might take someone 15–30 minutes can sometimes take me 5–6 hours. And yes, there are moments I want to throw my hands up and say, “Forget it!”

But this is life. Things break, programs misbehave, logins get lost, and websites glitch. When those challenges come, I face a decision—will I let the stress overwhelm me and rob me of peace, or will I pause, breathe, and remember these difficulties are part of the process?

The Decision Point

We don’t choose which obstacles show up, but we do choose our response. For a long time, a single problem could derail my whole day. I’d spiral into frustration, self-doubt, and that old lie: “See? You’ll never figure this out.”

Lately, God’s been teaching me a different way. Instead of surrendering to defeat, I tell myself: “These things happen. It’s part of learning. And eventually, I will figure it out.” That mindset doesn’t magically fix the problem, but it changes how I walk through it. This time, I chose perseverance over panic—and noticing that shift made me proud. Growth isn’t getting it right every time; growth is recognizing when your patterns are changing.

Progress, Not Perfection

Do I still ask, “Will this ever get easier?” Sure. But ease isn’t the goal. In the middle of tech struggles, I still get to step into the work I was created to do. I get to sit with clients, hear their hearts, and witness real breakthroughs.

When tears turn to hope and voices grow stronger on the healing path, the glitches fade to the background. It’s like God whispers, “This is why you keep going.” Every late night, every frustrating hiccup—worth it—because obedience on my end becomes healing on theirs.

Life Lessons in Every Challenge

Technical difficulties mirror the rest of life. We all face challenges bigger than us—heartbreak, loss, or the daily grind of pushing forward when it feels like the world is pushing back.

I think of Joseph. He didn’t just face “technical difficulties”—he was betrayed, falsely accused, imprisoned, and left waiting for years. From the outside, his life looked like a series of disasters. In reality, God was preparing him for a calling far greater than he could see. Each setback shaped his character and positioned him for influence. At the right time, Joseph stepped into purpose and saved a nation.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
— Genesis 50:20 (NIV)

Joseph’s story reminds me—our difficulties aren’t wasted. God often uses them to grow, refine, and prepare us for what’s ahead. So today I’m choosing differently: I won’t let technical difficulties dictate my day. Instead of spiraling, I ask, “What am I to learn here, and how can I grow?” It’s not always easy, and I don’t always nail it—but progress is happening, one choice at a time.

Your Turn

What “technical difficulties” are you facing right now? Maybe it isn’t technology at all—maybe it’s navigating divorce, rebuilding identity, or facing the unknown. You don’t have to walk it alone. God has more for you than frustration or defeat, and I would be honored to walk with you into healing and hope.
