15 May I Use the Same Tools I Teach: Why Coaching Is More Than a Career—It’s a Calling
Let me tell you something you might not hear often enough from coaches—we don’t coach because we have all the answers or because our lives are picture-perfect. We coach because we’ve lived through the fire, and by the grace of God, we came out not burned, but refined.
I’ve walked through the pain of divorce, and yes, that was a defining moment in my life. But divorce wasn’t the only hard thing I’ve faced in the last four years. There have been other battles—some emotional, some spiritual, and some behind closed doors that no one ever saw. Life has tested me, shaken me, and forced me to my knees more times than I can count.
And yet, I’ve chosen to believe something radically different:
Life is happening for me, not to me.
This mindset shift didn’t happen overnight. It came from years of digging deep, leaning into my faith, crying out to God, and using the very tools and resources I now teach my clients. These aren’t just worksheets or pep talks—they’re lifelines. They’re rooted in biblical truth, emotional awareness, and practical steps toward healing.
I still use these tools—every single day.
I wake up and make a conscious choice to live this life, not just go through the motions. I remind myself that I have not “arrived.” Healing and growing are ongoing. I have to check my heart, align my thoughts with God’s truth, and choose love, grace, and perspective—even in my marriage today.
Yes, even now, I use these tools in my marriage.
Thank God I’ve been given them. Because now I can see through a different lens—God’s lens. I see my husband not as the enemy in a moment of frustration, but as a human who’s also healing and growing. I no longer react the way I used to. Instead, I respond with a heart anchored in truth, knowing that I am not alone in this journey.
As coaches, we don’t show up because we have it all figured out.
We show up because God has taught us things through our pain—and it would be selfish not to share those lessons.
We coach because we know what it’s like to feel stuck, to cry yourself to sleep, to question your worth. We coach because we know how it feels to need someone—anyone—to say, “You’re not crazy. You’re just hurting. And you’re not alone.”
If we can help one woman fast-track her healing, avoid years of self-doubt, and walk in the freedom God designed for her, then we’re doing exactly what God has called us to do.
This isn’t just coaching. This is ministry.
We’re not just sharing tools—we’re sharing our stories.
We’re not just offering guidance—we’re offering hope.
And we’re not just pointing the way—we’re walking it, too.
To every woman reading this who feels like she’s still in the middle of her storm:
You’re not behind. You’re becoming.
And I’m living proof that God doesn’t waste one tear.
